? about Menards cars

From what I can remember there are 4 or 5 Menards flatcars with loads, no boxcar. I will dig out the pictures of them and post later.

Lionel flatcar with Menards race car

2 or 3 off brand flatcars with nonlionel Menards trailers

Bill T. has it correct. There has not been a separate sale boxcar. The first two offerings were a Lionel flat with Nascar racecar and flat w/ trailer.

Last year Menards offered 3 different separate sale items. A flat with semi truck, and two flats with trailers. These are not Lionel made items, they came in clear vacuum molded packages.

Well I was a little off, a total of 6 Menards cars, here are the pictures. The one without a box came in the Lionel Soo Line set.

Thanks Bill for the picts, the steel roofing is the one I picked up, they have the concrete block trailer there also, might just go get that one also. At 19.96 it doesnt hurt to bad. The truck would b nice to have, may have to find another Menards see if they have one Again thanks for posting the pictures.

I just noticed last week that at least two different Menards I just happened to be in both had the SOO RS3 set again or still on the shelves. I saw Costco already has Christmas items out, so it is almost the time of year again for starter sets.

What ever happened to the days when you didn't see Chirstmas items till the day after Thanksgiving??

Oh I forgot we now have Christmas in July sales?

There were only 1500 of the SOO LINE RS3 Diesel freight train sets produced.

So what happened to all of the Soo Line admirers?

Lionel has made very few Soo Line O Gauge items since 1970.

When Menards sells all of the LIONEL SOO LINE RS3 train sets, then they might offer a Chicago & NorthWestern FT-A Diesel train set.

I have the one car from last year with the semi tractor on it, as well as the SOO RS3 Lionel set. While the Lionel set is top-notch for a beginners set, I was kind of disappointed with the add-on cars. Yes, they are NOT made by Lionel, and it shows. The quality of the car itself is fine, but there are some issues. The wheels jump across my FasTrack switches pretty violently, and the couplers don't hold very well and come apart easily; I always have to run the car near the end of the train. The cars for this year look interesting, but I'll probably wait until after Christmas when the price goes down to about $19.

In the two Menards stores in my area they have no Christmas items yet. They usually wait until after Halloween.

My crystal ball is hinting at a Milwaukee Road set for this year.

Steam or diesel, I wonder? This might be a good time to offer a freight set with the GP20 or similar diesel.

At the Portage, MI and Kalamazoo, MI locations of MENARDS the flat cars with loads are the one group of O Gauge items not in stock. The only room is on a shelf that is about 7' high.

A couple of years back I do believe it was 2009 I purchased the Menards Flatbed car with Yellow semi trailer with Paul Menard #98 Racing graphics. At the store i opened the package (not sealed from manufacture ) to check the other side of the car to make sure no scratches or defects. and low and behold i gently slide the car out of its package to inspect the car and i discover the other side of the cars graphics were applied perfectly but inverted. I know these cars are/were of a limited numbered run.

so i purchased this car and the car behind it on the shelf so i could put one in my consist. Does any one know if the value of this car increased or who or where i could take it to to have it appraised. Or is the value mine know i have a numbered mistakethat got passed quality control? Im just looking for answers. as it stands right now the car has never been out of the box and never been put on the rails. all opinions who be taken and thought about ...Thanks for your help
