I recently acquired three Lionel 027 passenger car, these are the 2400 series from 1950, I think because they have the solenoid couplers. In any event, I was admiring the details on the cars, with the rivets and trucks, and put the car on the living room table next to a box of Series 1 baseball cards (a Kodak moment, IMHO). I noticed that the people on the window strips looked like they were having a fantastic time in the Hillside observation car. 
With the lights on, you can see them really enjoying their time together, maybe having a martini or two on their way home.
Now, compare that 1950's style fun, with these dour and boring people in the O Gauge 2500 series observation car from the 1992 Great Northern passenger car set.
