(09/25/18) New Santa Fe and New York Central Boxcars from Menards!

Another two very nice cars, really like the New York central colors. Of course the Santa Fe car is also nice.

I have a friend who loves Menards traditional size cars, He will buy these and hide them from the wife.  The problem is he is running out of hiding places.

Two more nice looking box cars. I still have to order the Katy cars.I looked into my tarnished crystal ball and I think I see Mark and the crew ( and Bob ) announcing new items every week till Christmas..............Paul

The NYC is very nice, good color combination.

Still wishing for some new tooling for reefers and 50's era single dome tankers.

Nothing looks nicer on a layout then a large string of colorful box cars. Keep them coming Menards. Time to start pushing four a week. 

Menards is doing a great job keeping us supplied with rolling stock at a price that all can afford.    It makes the wait for the BREWERY a little more tolerable.

I can't keep up either! I still have to get the yellow Milwaukee Road boxcar!

One of the main things I like about Menards is that they don't list an item until it's in their warehouse and READY to ship.  No worries about back orders, pre orders or an item not being made.

Has Menards ever released a Pennsylvania box car?  If not they should, the biggest railroad in the world so a few paint schemes in Pennsylvania would be nice.

If you want to get technical those Santa Fe boxcars are actually painted as refrigerator cars. SFRD stands for Santa Fe Refrigerator Despatch.

That was one of my custom run cars made by Weaver. I believe I did (300).

Still waiting for a Spokane Portland & Seattle boxcar to show up on the Menards website.

Menards Trains boxcars on the S&Y RR . Makes for a very colorful freight consist.

Would there be any interest in some milk cars? I seen a video someone had once of a Lionel milk train rolling with probably 30 of the (inoperable) white milk cars. It was quite impressive.

Last year at our community layout I built a UFO scene, and I filled a flat car with Ertl Cows with an alien on each end. The Aliens were glow in the dark and in a hidden area of a tunnel, I filled it with lights. The car would come out of the "dark" tunnel glowing. The kids loved it and the parents tried to figure it out...

The Pennsylvania box car that I posted a picture of is a 50' box car. David, one of our sponsors Public Delivery Track (Beth Marshall) still has some of the 40' box cars that Weaver did for me for sale. They have the red keystone.

I think this roadname one of the first Menards boxcars I've ordered. Mostly because it matched (sort-of) a Kusan boxcar I resurrected from a 2014 estate sale (a number of M's boxcars happen to resemble vintage Kusan paint schemes). This was back when the boxcars were still packaged in a clear-dome container with a stapled-on "floor".

Which reminds me--if anyone out there isn't keeping the packaging for their Menards boxcars, I'm looking for three of the cardboard cartons with their plastic clamshells, and two for the Menards tank cars . Roadname does not matter. E-mail is in my profile.

Mark, a question:  When will Menards discover that there is a fallen flag that remains very popular here in the East, the Western Maryland Railway?  I need more rolling stock like I need a hole in my head, but a set or two of WM hopper cars could induce this old skinflint to open his wallet.

You can always volunteer to keep them for him, that way you get more rolling stock
