I just took a look at mine. The threaded lamp socket is brass. The drawbar pin was more problematic. I covered mine with shrink tubing to hold on a drawbar I made out of sheet metal so the engine could pull PW tenders. I lifted the bottom of the drawbar up and the bottom of the pin was brass. Most of the rest of the pin is covered in the shrink tubing, but my guess is....it's all brass and not painted. There is the possibility that my drawbar could have removed the black paint if it was indeed painted. As I don't want to remove the shrink tubing, we'll need a verification from another member.

Thanks all. My loco is the later version with black journals on the tender trucks. Lionel in this late period blackened the brass draw bar pin to help it blend in. My head lamp socket is brass but it's been painted black. I'm not sure if a previous owner did it for some reason or if Lionel has painted it that way. The shell does not look repainted, but it might be one of those factory repaints that Lionel loved to do.
