SQUEEGIE , is the engine body metal or plastic plastic is the postwar version metal is te pre-war version.

If it is just making a buzzing noise and not moving that may be your e-unit if you can take shell off look at e-unit for a wire that came off and look at other wires loose or off of where they should be. overtime that happens . If you can solder it will be an easy fix if not it would need to be taken in.

Perhaps you can take some pictures with engine shell off and show motor and e-unit so we can be of help.

It has happened to me were the wires attach and move a little going around curves on certain engines and eventually they break off at the solder joint.like on a postwar gp9 as the motor swivels going around curves but a 249 in both pre and postwar has a parallel motor that does not swivel but regardless a loose or broken motor wire or e-unit wire may be your problem.because of their age.
