Just wondering is everyone is still pretty happy with their new 3rd Rail E7's.  I had a set reserved but the dealer who reserved them never contacted me so I found a new set and bought them yesterday. I know about the minor issues with the ladders and Mars light wiring but wondered if any other issues have arisen?  They still look like a great loco for the money.

Butch,

I am very happy with the pair of PRR DGLE A units I purchased. They are drop dead gorgeous. They operate extremely well, beginning with a less-than-walking speed. They are fabulously decorated and have only two very, very minor detail flaws.

They pull very well. I may add some weight to them as I intend to utilize them on very long trains. The QSI Titan Magnum decoder is spectacular in its sound sets. Admittedly I have not made many adjustments to CVs yet. The top speed is about 45-50 smph, which is satisfactory. It would be great if they went upwards up 70smph, but at this point I am not going to change the ratios in the drivetrain.

In short, they ARE great models for the money.

Somewhere on this forum several months ago were photos of the new 3rd Rail E7 with the shell removed showing the drivetrain.  I've done a search and pulled up a lot of threads but can't any showing the drive. Maybe it was another forum but I don't think so.  If anyone has a link to the thread or can tell me where to look I'd be most grateful.

Has anyone had any problems with the decoders. I bought 2, and a buddy bought 1, and we cant seem to get either of them to run in reverse. Tried to get a hold of QSI, but difficult to get any help there. The sounds match the throttle settings, but the motor is running very slowly. The only comment we got from QSI is that they had heard of others with this problem

the QSI instructions say to begin with using the default setting of '3' for the engine address. once the engine is 'acquired' and tested using the default address, you can then re-program the engine using the road number or other.

you can reset to factory default settings go to the QSI Industries site (or Tony's Trains) to download the Titan manual for help.

I think the models are fantastic, two thumbs up! I absolutely love them. THANK YOU SCOTT!

I am getting finished up with the Rock Island research for them. Does anyone know where Scott is?

BTW: I am the photographer who shot the images attached.

No smoke unit(s) in those?

Did you figure out why the grease leaked out where the axles exit the gearbox?
