it would be nice to see this in steamtown...
Sorry but it can't come this far east because of weight and height restrictions. Beside if it went to Steamtown it would just rust away like the Big Boy. See what happens when you let the govt. run something!!!!!!

I don't think you will EVER see a UP Steam locomotive (844 or 3985) operate "off line" again, after that mess on CSX down on the Clinchfield RR for that Santa Special, back in the '90s.

Steamtown is an example of a government bailout. And while I said elsewhere that it looks like a junkyard more than museum, pre-Park-Service it was closer to a scrap-heap in the middle of ruins.

I remember visiting the Freedom Train at the Lackawanna Station (pre-Steamtown) and it pulled into town with a Reading Northern instead of the Daylight. Many western locos can't make it around the Northeast.
