A while back, I went to Piedmont, West Virginia, my  old home town, which is at the bottom

and east of the famous 17 Mile Grade. I had seen some construction work previously, and

found new signals would be taking the place of the old CPL's there. So here are the results of

the visit.

Eastbound U813 coal loads, the front of the locomotive is at the road crossing

where I used to stand and wait on trains to pass.

This is sound I used to listen to as a youngster, waiting at the crossing to go home

from school. Took me back a way. The lead power back then was usually a mighty EM-1. That was

many years ago.
