Awful. Thank God no one was hurt. From what it sounds like, the husband and wife just escaped. In other news, two CSX trains derailed this morning with one train hauling coal. What a day for derailments.
Someone's belongings are strewn all over the place !! Those darn trains keep getting in the road!!
They need to add that auto-brake feature like they've been advertising on expensive cars for people with attention deficit disorder. If something is on the track, the train will stop automatically and the crew can walk back a mile or so to see what it was that they hit.

Seems like this is nowhere near the first time l have heard of a tractor trailer stuck on tracks... how come it is so hard to get a truck across tracks? Earliest l know of involved the Great Western decapod now on the Strasburg, in 1940. That turned over the loco and killed the fireman, and the trucker.
Looking at the video, you can see in the aerial closeup shots, signs warning trucks not to use this crossing...
In fact, two "Trucks Prohibited" signs and one more explaining why. But the driver got his rig stuck on the crossing anyway. I'm guessing he's no longer employed by Allied Van Lines.

90 was involved in a wreck with a tractor trailer? I never knew that. I wonder if 60 ever had any wrecks..

It fairly easy to get stuck like this. I pull a horse trailer and have to be aware of the same issue. When the railroad crossing is higher than the road, they build up the road on both sides. Depending on the difference in height and the wheelbase if the truck, if the "hump" in the middle is higher that the center of the truck between the wheel sets, it gets hung up.
I also think stuff like this is happening more and more thanks to GPS. People simply pay attention to the GPS and don't watch signs as much.
Once when I was pulling my horse trailer, my GPS routed me to an 8' underpass. My trailer is way higher than that. I saw the sign before I made the turn, so no problem. But if the sign was obstructed or out of sight before I turned, I would have been in deep dodo as it didn't appear there was a place to turn around before the underpass. I can't imagine having to backup onto a 4 lane highway...
I am glad no one was hurt. But think of the family whose stuff is all over the tracks. Insurance will replace the couch and fridge and stuff. Be we all have stuff the insurance can't replace. Just imagine if your prize train collection was in that trailer...

In NS case, it wsa not NS's fault.
It's sad to say that people don't pay attention to what they are doing, like the truck driver who goes over a crossing with a sign warning of being stuck with a long trailer.
Reminds me of the Amtrak verses Hess gasoline tanker in Ft. Lauderdale FL. The truck driver was at fault as he was parked on the CSX tracks because of traffic, 9 people died(including truck driver) in that firey blaze that day. Found out he was just released to go back to work after being on pain medication for a few weeks and he was not thinking 100% clear.

Here in Vermont we have state route 108 that goes through Smugglers Notch. There are HUGANTIC yellow signs with flashing yellow lights warning trucks and buses to stay out... it makes 90 degree turns between boulders and trees... you can just get through in a minivan... At least once a week a tractor trailer gets stuck. $5,000 fine plus towing!
