Before Lionel came out with the 3 piece scale length RDC set in ARR livery I was already on board the ARR RDC train with an RMT RDC for around $60. With two motors it seemed like a pretty good puller and I started thinking about a multi car unit with at least an RDC combo like the ARR ran back in the 80s and early 90s. Finally along came one of thesefrom Trainz on e-bay, (picture borrowed from e-bay). After quite a bit of time and lots of temptation to buy the Lionel set from Nassau Hobby the gray Reading dummy is now so I can run it with Some K-Line small baggage car doors and new silhouette strips from Brasseur, some HO decals from Microscale, some old Walthers Alaska decals and some home made add-on paper clip grab irons and I've got my 2 piece RDC train. I just wish my modelling skills were better so that my combo could stand up to a closer inspection.

Lionel came out with scale length RDC's? When did this happen? Are you sure it's not a b&o postwar repaint?

It may be the postwar molds but they are almost twice as long as these K-line/RMT RDCs so I thought they were scale. I guess I was wrong.
