I was going through a bunch of my train stuff and found a box of old American Flyer track I had gotten from a friend's dad years ago. My thought was to use it but I have never used it and I'm trying to clean up somethings. The track is in ok shape not rusty just needs a good cleaning. My question is how much is the old American Flyer track worth? I do not want to just toss it away if someone could use it.

Not much. I know an antique dealer that bought a collection and is sitting on a bunch of track. I went with Gargraves for my S gauge loop.
I'm not sure about its value, but as I work with AF track to set up my Christmas layout, I have been surprised with how well it has held up through the years. Like yours, mine has been in boxes for too long and has a little rust, but it cleans well, pins are solid, it flexes but does not bend too easily, smooth...I like it better than Lionel tubular track and I appreciate the realistic two rail aspect. My 300's and 282's are running great on it.
The track if it is in decent shape, straights will generally go for $10.00 for a bundle of 10 pcs, the curves between 2 to 4 for a $1.00, and the switches if reasonably clean and working without boxes $25.00 to $35.00 a pair.

Typically if clean and working the later 720A switches with controller will fetch $30 for the pair. Singularly they can be found at shows for $8 to $10 each. Tracks, clean straights usually bring a buck. Clean curves $2 for a circle of 12.
