A few years ago I painted and weathered an MTH Baldwin non-powered unit. It still needed couplers in these shots but I thought some of you might like to see it anyway. It was all painted by brush with acrylics over a rattle can basic undercoat color. It was mostly stained with acrylics to develop the finish. The pilots are fixed in place. I am now doing an Alco S2 that has been converted with a Cummins diesel. It's a model of Landmark Grain #10003, even though that unit was an S4.

Vividly real looking paint job here, and totally "out of the box" technique wise

Thanks for sharing the shot and the steps involved I have a couple of candidates that Id like to do the same with, but up till now was thinking via the "long way around" method, which likely would have been "ok" but not this real looking,

uncanny.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. I will have a painting and weathering article soon to be published in OGR. It features a structure but the techniques are the same for anything that needs paint and weathering. As soon as I finish the Alco S2 I will submit that article also. It is a mild rebuild and detail along with a painting and weathering technique story.
