Hi guys- This a layout I am going to build for a friend.  I'm going to use Fastrack with TMCC switches for simplicity sake.  He is going to run postwar stuff with some PW accessories.  I'm going to set him up with Legacy control system, so he can delve into that if he wants.  The plan is basically 2 loops with crossovers in front- a reverse loop to send trains back to the yard- and an upper loop with a reverse just for fun- a couple sidings, a turntable and small yard.  072 & 060 curves if possible.  Upper loop may have to be smaller radius-I don't want to bury too much track and it needs to fit.  I think I've got all he wants with this plan.  Anybody care to share their software expertise and take a stab at laying this out?  I sure would appreciate it-or, I'll just do it the old fashioned way.. Thanks a million for your help.       William 1 - aka - struggling artist

Wow Matt-thanks!  I really like the plan. I think it should be fun to operate.   I'm going to move the LH side of the bone forward, bring the upper loop tighter in and use smaller radius up there- bring it together a bit.  Thanks again for your help- it makes it so much easier to visualize and get a pretty accurate piece count.  Stuff is expensive.  You saved me a bunch of time and mental anguish (?)  It's hard to say thanks enough.

Here is a slightly revised version of Matt's plan.  I lengthened the sides, another 10" straight may do it, so the upper loop will fit a bit better maybe, and bring the middle together a bit, to give better access to the tracks in back.  Upper loop will be 060 to fit in better as well.  I wish I could figure out how to access the rrt file.  Thanks again.  I like it!

Actually, AGHR is named for Angels Gate Park, San Pedro (Los Angeles.) Roughly translated, Port of Los Angeles means Angels Gate. We're in the Quartermaster's Barracks in the upper reservation of the old Fort MacArthur military base, now Angels Gate Park. We have a great view of the ocean and Catalina Island; to the East, we can see the Port of Los Angeles with the San Gabriel Mountains in the distant background. This photo was taken in January, 2008
