ASC3000 vs SC2

Seriously considering using Atlas track and Atlas switches for my new 17x40’ 3 level layout with yard and turn table. Lot’s of switches. Would like to operate Atlas Switches with Legacy Cab2 controller. Is this a reasonable thing to do? SC2 can control 6 switches where the ASC3000 controls only 4. Am I right about this? Is there an advantage of one over the other?

So if you have 30 switches does that mean you have to have 5 SC2 control boxes? I would assume the same scenario would hold true using Ross switches with Z1000 or Z2500 machines. Are the Z1000 machines more reliable than the Z2500 machines?
