So everyone, I have an Atlas 3 Rail tmcc C-630 bought in 2011, 4C8041A3-D906-460B-98FB-42B45333C47445796A4C-DCFC-455B-B0C9-0A81BCA16CAF84D84CC4-C02A-4351-AAA9-789348A44C33and recently have discovered a problem that is more or less my fault. The smoke unit board in the unit is severely damaged. The board has a “regulator” as I call it, that from my knowledge detects if there is sufficient smoke fluid in the unit and will shut down the unit if there isn’t enough. That piece of circuitry has been charred and burned so that it is barely even on the board anymore. I know that my wicking is also burned, but this has been known for a while. Now my question, is there anywhere that I can find a new board for the unit or an entire smoke unit? I have not been able to find the part on Atlas’s store. I know that I should have checked the smoke unit before I ran the loco on my layout after being off for so long. This was my first O scale locomotive, so I would like to fix it as this brought me into o scale from running ho only. I will try to post better picture when I get the loco out.

In reality, the "charred' component in your pictures is the smoke unit resistor itself. The green component next to it is a thermistor that senses low fluid level. due to no fluid coming in contact with it.

This unit was from Mike Reagan's TrainAmerica Studios which is out of business. I'm sure Mike would tell you what value resistor would replace his original; just solder in a new resistor, replace the burnt wicking, and you should be back making some Alco smoke.

Mike now works for Trainworx and is in their satellite location in North Carolina. Contact him here; "mreagan@twtrainworx.com" .   The Trainworx main number in Dallas is 214-634-2965; they can hook you up with Mike if you have problems otherwise.
