I pulled all the atlas electronics from a Hi nose GP35 and transferred the PS3 electronics and 2 rail trucks from a spare MTH GP35 into the Atlas. So far going very well..i was very surprised the MTH premier trucks fit the cast Atlas chassis.

Here is my ?. The PS3 2 inch 4 ohm 4 watt speaker will not fit the oval 8 ohm 1 watt atlas speaker in the fuel tank.  Any harm in using the existing Atlas speaker with PS3?

Joe is correct that the speaker could work, albeit with reduced volume.

However, the MTH speaker can handle 4 watts while the Atlas speaker can only handle 1 watt. There's a chance that the Atlas speaker could not handle the power coming from the PS3 board's audo amplifier if the volume were turned up high, as it might be when trying to get louder sounds out of the higher ohm-value Atlas speaker.

I have added Boilermaker's suggested speakers to many of My Atla sO dummy units. the speakers were to replace the puny round ones that came with the MRc ac sounder units. these oval speakers work great and have a nice OEM fit to the speaker opening in the fuel tank.

Now keep in mind not ALL Atlas O diesels use the Oval speaker... Only the Sd35/gp35/sd40/c424/c630/c628/b40-8/gp60's

Others use the standard round 50mm [2"] speakers.. GP/F3's, C liners & sw9 etc.
