Mike, the bottom of the truck turned out awesome. Isn’t that nice how you can read it? Lee, you do an amazing job on those trucks.
Ted, c’mon man, I only have an iPad and don’t have access to a printer so the plates are a no go. Dang.

Lol as for the plates, you find something and let me know I will print them up and ship them to you. Could take up to a month from the west coast. Lol

If you can print a sheet to the right scale for dinky/corgi I would really appreciate it.

Thank you so much! Hopefully someday I can help you out.

Joel, this thread group is the true essence of what a forum is all about'... Over all, the O Gauge forum is the friendliest one on the net'... I belong to two others, and there is always a competitive edge, and very big on rivet counting and nit picking. Not the case here, and very little when it does occur'..
Yes Ted, you know, you are right. I have been on this site for quite a while, I’ve purchased stuff from some guys on here and sent them a check for it. And I’m sure they have sent the stuff before the check even got there. Also asked some questions when I’ve been stumped, and someone always comes through. Overall just seems like a nice group of guys. Have you ever gone to York? Just wondering. Mike, if you’re reading this have you ever gone to York? Just wondering if I could ever run into you guys.
Regarding license plates: Since my layout is set in 1956 in New Jersey, evey car on my layout has a 1956 Jersey License Plate. I googled "1956 New Jersey License Plate," and searched images. I found one that was reasonably free of blemishes and dents. I squared it up in Adobe PhotoShop, and then went to town making all sorts of variants by PhotoShopping the numbers and letters. Below is one of two sheets. The large image shows the plate blown up enough for me to see it, the smaller images are the same plate reduced to fit a 1/43 scale car:

Joel, I have never been to York, heck 6-7 years ago I knew nothing about it. Never even heard of it till I got on this forum. Then again not to many folks from the west coast make the trip.

Lee, you are on quite a roll with your truck and trailers! It looks outstanding!
After my meeting this afternoon I went out and put a clear coat on the fire engine so I can use the Chrome pen to get things done!
I also got my Switching tower painted, but I will put that on what did you do on your layout today.
Mike. That fire truck is so close to being done looking great. Yes I’m on a roll with these trucks and it’s about time I get them finished.

Lee, thanks for the comment...the "'57 Vette" is an FM. I've had it for years. In looking at the pic again, I neglected to open the hood for the pic...will do for the next one
"The Classic Cars of the Fifties" series from FM shows up on the big auction site from time to time...sometimes the prices are extra cheap for these cars, other times over priced...
Paul, great to see you having someone taking care of that wonderful vett!
Joel, I got some plate printed up. But I want to talk to Ted before I ship them to make sure I have all my setting correct. How many copies would you like?
Well I am headed out to the train room soon to work on the fire truck and switching tower! I will check in later, I hope you all have a great Saturday!

The tractor looks great. Very nice job. I'm curious about the trailer in the background. It looks like a 28' pup. I'm interested in modeling those for my intermodal trains. I don't know of any available O scale models. As a first attempt I cut down a Lionel 40' foot trailer, which is awaiting paint. I'm also going to experiment with stretching an MTH 20' trailer by two inches. Am I right you have a pup there, and if so can you tell me about it?
Thanks,

Sunstar America, lnc., Hayward, Calif.?? I got in a kit of a dilapidated garage, and included with it was a Wayne 60 1/43? excellent model of a 1937 Texaco gas pump. I could not find SunStar on the net, so wonder if they did other gasoline brands, like Conoco, Skelly, and Frontier? Really a good model, so....anybody familiar with SunStar?

PD, Nice work, is that an MG or a Jag? Either way it looks outstanding!
Lee, the trailer is coming along nicely! Just wondering where you get these kits? I might have to try one down the road.
Well guys yesterday I was able to get out to the train room and got the chrome on the fire engine, worked on reattaching the ladder, so if everything works out I will work on getting the bottom back on this morning and call it done! LOL Here are just a couple photos!
Mike. Your fire truck is looking very nice and a great update. This one I don’t know it’s the Revell Honest John Kit but I added Bass Wood sides and styrene and I found some hinges for it. I also found some Don Mills Wheels for it last night so I will paint it and it’s going on the layout.
Thank you Lee! I really like your model building skills and your finish products are just outstanding! after the fire engine and Tower I have a couple building I have to make into flats to go in front of a window. Then I am going to try another car!
Hey Guys,
I notice alot of you swap out the standard wheels and tires in a kit for better ones. I've got some toy die cast (especially trucks but also cars) with really bad toy-ish wheels and some that are missing wheels for which even less-than-ideal kit wheels would be a definite upgrade.
I'd be more than happy to pay shipping and maybe even a couple bucks on top for whatever kit wheels you all would be willing to save from the trash and send my way.

Good to know about the Honest John. I'll keep my eyes out for a deal on one of those.
I wonder if the Honest John is among the Revell tooling that Atlantis picked up? I'd love to be able to someday buy it for 40% off at Hobby Lobby...
The lovely Sinclair tanker is a bit too old for my Christmas layout, but I'm strongly considering picking up the '55 Chevy Stake Truck. Even on a modern layout, a classic flat truck could find a home.
January 1953, white Cadillac Eldorado, Body number 002 with red and white interior, was made famous when Ike and Mamie Eisenhower rode in it during Ike's inaugural parade. Rumor had it that GM made of gift of that Eldorado to Ike however GM records showed it was returned and in Company Service. It was then shipped to New York in August 1953 presumably for sale. Eight years later in the early spring of 1961 after leaving Washington we find Ike and Mamie rolling over the hills near the Eisenhower Farm in Gettysburg, PA, in a white '53 Eldorado. Coincidence? If you believe in that sort of thing.I painted the black interior in red and white from pictures of the '53 Eldorado interior. Again Welley needed to have something in the back seat. This time a suitcase. I left it black this time. Dash board is red, white and chrome(silver Sharpie, gotta get me one of those Molotow chrome pens) and the seats are red and white. White is not visible because Dwight, Mamie and the suitcase. I also added loose leaf reinforcement white walls to the tires.

I read in another forum that it was thought that the Revell Kenworth was sent to Germany at some point, this it was not in the dies boght by Atlantis. If so, that's too bad for multiple reasons.
Thanks guys for all the nice words! Like I said before the next one is going to be a simple car! LOL
Joel, as for taking the ladder off the top on the underside of the post there were 2 split washers and a flat washer. The underside of the pin had been flattened out so I just drilled it out till the flat washer came free. Putting it back together I reinstalled the split washers, the flat washer sat flush with the end of the pin. So I just put 3 drops of super glue and let it sit for a couple hours before even touching it. It seamed to work!
Coach Joe, what an amazing job on the 53 Caddy! I wish I had the money and space as I would buy one to run around in todays times! Your attention to details is outstanding!

Mike,
Pick up a small spray can of CA glue accelerator, a/k/a "Zip Kicker" - it will instantly cure the CA glue once applied so you can keep working without having to wait for the glue to cure - works like a charm and makes the projects go a lot quicker. It also comes in a brush on bottle, but I like the spray.
If I need three hands (two to hold the pieces together and one to spray the accelerator), I just call the boss to come down and she sprays the accelerator while I hold the pieces together.
Just make sure to wipe any excess spray off immediately so it doesn't react with anything else.

Hey Joe, just remember when you become famous! We were here all along! We got your back buddy!

There I found these two military trucks that look to be around 1/50 for my Cape Warrenaveral military base.
I plan to detail them, maybe Dullcoat, and add benches and soldiers in the troop carrier.
A couple years ago I cut this old Revell tanker down and added some supports added some decals from a place in France called GasOline they have wonderful 1/48 scale Millitary Models. Today I took some pics of it being Piggyback. Of course the tank is Empty and is being transported to go in service.

Quarter Gauger, you are the master story teller! I'm with Lee: I thought that first photo was the real thing until I noticed the plastic stands for the figures in later photos.

P.S. -- I, too, have been working on cars having just finished building a 1/8 scale Lego Technic Bugatti Chiron, so it's obviously not an appropriate scale for this post -- let alone my carpet layout. Some day I may pick up one in 1/43; I've seen a few and they are sweet. I'd even let Lloyd and Connie have a ride. 😀
Tomlinson Run Railroad, Thanks very much'.. Your nice comments have made my night as well. I found this car on the bay'. A Corgi Classic. A guy in California was selling it for $6.99. & 6 bucks shipping. The figures I finished up painting today when the car arrived. So I thought I'd take a few pics.. As I mentioned before, No rehearsal, or preparations. Just a quick shoot on the deck with the wind blowing. I never imagined they would come out as good as they did.... Thanks again'..😬
PS: Put your Bugatti on the thread. We are not regulated by scale per say'. I think everyone would like to see your car'...
To keep this train related, I was thinking about a military show for the townsfolk. But the scale just does not work for lionel trains. 1/35 vs. 1/48.
