Sunstar America, lnc., Hayward, Calif.?? I got in a kit of a dilapidated garage, and included with it was a Wayne 60 1/43? excellent model of a 1937 Texaco gas pump. I could not find SunStar on the net, so wonder if they did other gasoline brands, like Conoco, Skelly, and Frontier? Really a good model, so....anybody familiar with SunStar?

Probably 1/56-scale or so. Just an experiment playing with panel lines. Homemade windscreen needs some work, lol.

Not an auto, but on Ali Express I picked up this neat and surprisingly-accurately-scaled James Bond Acrostar jet.

Well guys yesterday I was able to get out to the train room and got the chrome on the fire engine, worked on reattaching the ladder, so if everything works out I will work on getting the bottom back on this morning and call it done! LOL Here are just a couple photos!

Mike. Your fire truck is looking very nice and a great update. This one I don’t know it’s the Revell Honest John Kit but I added Bass Wood sides and styrene and I found some hinges for it. I also found some Don Mills Wheels for it last night so I will paint it and it’s going on the layout.

I notice alot of you swap out the standard wheels and tires in a kit for better ones. I've got some toy die cast (especially trucks but also cars) with really bad toy-ish wheels and some that are missing wheels for which even less-than-ideal kit wheels would be a definite upgrade.
I'd be more than happy to pay shipping and maybe even a couple bucks on top for whatever kit wheels you all would be willing to save from the trash and send my way.

I wonder if the Honest John is among the Revell tooling that Atlantis picked up? I'd love to be able to someday buy it for 40% off at Hobby Lobby...
The lovely Sinclair tanker is a bit too old for my Christmas layout, but I'm strongly considering picking up the '55 Chevy Stake Truck. Even on a modern layout, a classic flat truck could find a home.
January 1953, white Cadillac Eldorado, Body number 002 with red and white interior, was made famous when Ike and Mamie Eisenhower rode in it during Ike's inaugural parade. Rumor had it that GM made of gift of that Eldorado to Ike however GM records showed it was returned and in Company Service. It was then shipped to New York in August 1953 presumably for sale. Eight years later in the early spring of 1961 after leaving Washington we find Ike and Mamie rolling over the hills near the Eisenhower Farm in Gettysburg, PA, in a white '53 Eldorado. Coincidence? If you believe in that sort of thing.
I painted the black interior in red and white from pictures of the '53 Eldorado interior. Again Welley needed to have something in the back seat. This time a suitcase. I left it black this time. Dash board is red, white and chrome(silver Sharpie, gotta get me one of those Molotow chrome pens) and the seats are red and white. White is not visible because Dwight, Mamie and the suitcase. I also added loose leaf reinforcement white walls to the tires.

Coach Joe, Great paint job on the interior and what a clever use for those binder page reinforcements.
Let's see, we've now got thumb tack steering wheels and easy to convert paper circle white walls -- all of which I can pull out of my top desk drawer.

I read in another forum that it was thought that the Revell Kenworth was sent to Germany at some point, this it was not in the dies boght by Atlantis. If so, that's too bad for multiple reasons.

Joel, as for taking the ladder off the top on the underside of the post there were 2 split washers and a flat washer. The underside of the pin had been flattened out so I just drilled it out till the flat washer came free. Putting it back together I reinstalled the split washers, the flat washer sat flush with the end of the pin. So I just put 3 drops of super glue and let it sit for a couple hours before even touching it. It seamed to work!
Coach Joe, what an amazing job on the 53 Caddy! I wish I had the money and space as I would buy one to run around in todays times! Your attention to details is outstanding!

Wow, Joe I was studying those whitewalls before I read your post'.. I was thinking, those were some big ones and cool with the white wheels'. That's a great idea for whitewalls... BTW, the info on Cannonball COE tractor on on this thread, page 67'...😬

Hello mike', I'm here, was jus a busy day'... I must say for your very first restore', you did a heck of a job. That is now a very good looking fire engine'.. Your paint job is spot on'... the ladder is a bonus and makes the scene the way you have it on the layout.

I doubt if they will release it Revell of Germany has the mold but it would be nice if they can

Not many know about these things, unless they served in one of the branches'.. Embassy Duty is a sweet deal, it's great duty. However, it can also be Hazardous too........ many Marines become Police Officers, after leaving the corps.....
