new blue cannew yellow can

Ben- you have both in stock? I like the second version with the 07302023 car number. The site isn't clear on which is which.

We had A&P King Kullen, and Bohack in town growing up. I remember taking a field trip in elementary school to A&P's warehouse on the LIRR central extension in Garden City.
I'm a supermarket veteran too having worked in several Pathmark's during and after high school.

No these won’t be in until 4th quarter 2024.  The one you want is the blue cans.  That’s the difference. The other one has gold

I thought I only had a few cars that would fit this category but I realize I have more than I thought.  These are in no particular order but I have quick access to pictures of this batch.  I'll dig out others and post pictures of them as they come available.

This is a METCA offering.  I saw a picture of it somewhere and it caught my eye because my dad worked for Metropolitan Roofing Supply in the Bronx for 30 years.  They manufactured Durex roofing cements and sealers, contracted with other big manufacturers to produce their roofing cements and sold every type of material, supply and equipment for any type of roof system.  Their fleet of delivery trucks were green with a gold MRS in a diamond emblazoned on the doors.  I could see their boxcar, if they owned one looking very much like this.  Alas this model was no longer listed on the METCA web site.  I contacted Stu to see if any were still available.  To my dismay Stu said if it's not on the web site it's out of stock.  The next day I received an e-mail from Stu.  There was still one left, the one used for the METCA display, if I was interested.  So now it's mine.

19192 Lionel Collectors Club of America NASA tank car.  An eBay purchase.

IMG_2351IMG_2353

I had one of Jim Sutter's Weaver Genny Light reefers and was looking for a Genesee one to go with it.  I came across this LOTS offering on eBay for a reasonable price considering the prices of other Genesee cars available at the time.

This K-Line Ewing Oil tank car is stunning in green and gold and just happens to be a TTOS chapter offering from 1989.IMG_3292

Nassau Lionel Operating Engineers 2006 boxcar celebrating the 80th anniversary of LIRR 401, the world's first road diesel.  This one came from Trainz.  As did the LIRR flat with Tomcat trailer from NLOE already posted by Bob, @RSJB18.

I also have a single offering from NJHR, the Schmidt's reefer already posted.  I bought at one of the Trainstocks, I don't remember which, and Ben, @bluelinec4, was nice enough to give me the preorder pricing even though I hadn't pre-ordered it.

I know there are a couple more NLOE cars and a St. Louis club car that I need to get pictures of and maybe another one or two I'm not remembering.  I've also got some K-Line Collectors' Club offerings that I believe went from KCC offerings to inclusion in catalogs for general sale.  I'll gather up some pics of those and post those separate from other club oferings.

Here is the first of two cars we did for our Desert Division TCA national convention in 1997 in Phoenix.  I was the convention chairman and we always do a fund raising car to support the local division's costs.  I had the idea of doing one of Lionel's animated gondola's with the iconic roadrunner and coyote figures - this was Arizona after all.  A friend of my son was a good artist and did 8x10 illustrations of the figure to send to Lionel.

Sorry, Lionel wrote.  Those are licensed figures by Warner Brothers and it would cost us $50k for the license.  Too expensive for your project.

So, we came up with the idea of Lost Dutchman and burro figures which were prominent at that time as advertising symbols for the Arizona lottery.  That was OK with Lionel and the car produced.  Here it is.

I have certainly jumped on club cars that were known to public and not Top Secret. Ones l have are a few of the U. P., Mich. cars, and a TTOS Marble, Colo. flat with a load of real Marble marble. Others have these quicker to find and l would like to see the photos posted. What hauled granite out of Vermont?  Must be a club or custom run in that? Wish these were more widely advertised. I would like to see a long running posting, regularly updated, that strove to make known any and all club/custom cars offered.

Fantasy brews but not a fantasy brewer!  The Manhattan Brewing Company did exist in Manhattan from 1984 through 1991.  It was located on Thompson Street in SoHo and was one of the earliest brewpubs on the east coast.  Signature medal winning brews were Manhattan Amber and Manhattan Gold Lager, which was also brewed and bottled for sale.

Thanks Coach.

Here is the last one from the 1997 TCA Arizona national convention in Phoenix.

The  background story.  Arizona grew originally in large part due to mining.  First gold, but then copper reined for a century.  In southern Arizona the Phelps Dodge company dominated both mining and smelting.  Since I came from that part of the state it was natural to do something to celebrate it. Fortunately, I had enough connections to get to meet an officer and told him of my idea: a depressed center flat that was used to carry copper ingots to the plants that would refine it and turn the copper into wire and over products.  I needed those which were just about the right size for an O gauge car.  He said that yes, they has some almost the right size that were used as a give-away at a recent corporate event and were real copper!

K Line had a  flat that was the right size and would letter them with the Phelps Dodge logo.  A  member had plastic trays made to hold the ingots.  A limited number were made for the attendees and more without the load for further sale.  The convention goers also got a little flier explains the car and the industry.IMG_1450IMG_1452

Here, displayed on Warrenville, are the first two Crew Cars I painted for the Railroad Museum of Long Island (RMLI) in Riverhead NY,

rmli 2 cars

A limited inventory of these cars will be available for sale at the museum within a month.

The all grey paint scheme is prototypical - the one with the orange trim is not. WHICH do you like better??

John, I'm a Kodachrome type of guy, so I like the burst of orange on each end.

Here are a few more.

1990 TCA Dixie Division Atlanta convention car by K-Line.  Wood blocks wrapped in burlap represented cotton bales.  I glued some cotton to the ends and use black rubber hair ties for strapping to make it look a little better.  Seems like some of those hair bands gave up and need to be replaced.

Pigs Eye Beer reefer by K-Line for the 39th annual TCA convention hosted by the Lakes and Pines Division in St. Paul MN.  I won an eBay auction for this one and it's been in storage for so long I didn't realize it was still wrapped in plastic.
