I thought the red-black-gray scheme were the "classic" colors but apparently the prototype railroad went through some different schemes - which might take all day to research. Might be uncommon to find in O-gauge since it was one of the smaller railroads with different paint schemes at different times. Good luck.

To revisit this older thread...

When I lived in Maine in the early '70s, I spent a fair bit of time in Bangor. At that time, the B&A units were in the 3 color scheme, and I guess I just assumed that was the "standard" and perhaps only paint scheme they ever had.

A few years later, after moving to Oregon, I bought a copy of "America's Colorful Railroads" by Don Ball. In that book is a picture of an F3 and Geep in the earlier pale grey colors... something I didn't know existed! 😳

And I have to say I like both schemes equally. 🙂

PS: just picked up an A B F3 set (in HO) in the early colors. I can post pictures if anyone is interested...
