BIG BOYS anyone remember this on TV ?

Got this tape quite a few years ago...quite entertaining !    Even more enteraining is the Youtube comments  that followed.

I had not seen this. Nice preview. The old man reminds me about how my Grandfather used to speak about diesels. His retirement on 12/31/59 from the N&W was in large part due to the N&W plans to go 100% Diesel in 1960.

I believe the whole series can be purchase from Pentrex on DVD.

I believe the engineer is Ed Begley Sr.

Is the 1 hour show available? I didn't know. I would be interested in getting that show.

As I stated above, the entire collection of "Big Boy" footage from the UP is/are available from Pentrex.

There some pretty good footage NBC shot for the program.

 

The program is a hoot.   I particularly like when the son tells dad that the UP's ordered 100,000 pounds of diesel locomotives.  Ahhh....  The glories of live television.

 

I'd like a 1/4 pound of F3 please, off the nose...  and a thick slice of PA airhorn...

Yes, I have the DVDs and the entire program is on there including the Lucky Strike commercials.   It's worth the $$$....great film footage.

Pounds???  You gotta have a different Big Boy!   OTOH, I like your idea better...so gimme some garlic pimento SD9....better yet make it a sammich and I'll eat it here !

I have 4 of their DVDs, just not that show on any of them. If so was wondering which DVD is it on?

reminds me of "last of the giants" a similar video on the Big Boy.   Nice to see the old footage of the giant UP steam engine.
