How can I tell if I have blown my TIU?

1. TIU is relatively new and worked fine yesterday.

2. Power passes from my Z-4000 through TIU  to the track. Tracks have power.

3. Handheld controls say they are either out of RF range or no active DCS engines found.

4. Little red light inside of TIU is NOT on any longer.

5. TIU is powered with an MTH brick.

Please advise.

Next question will be how do I correct the problem.

Thank you.

Bill

you have to power up threw fixed voltage one to power up the led circuit or otherwise you have to power up via aux power input otherwise the led circuit will not work. try that first as soon as you power up you should see the red led flash showing its working !

Alan

also I wood sniff the vent wholes of the tiu and see if it smell like burnt  electronics, either way it can be repaired!

Remove brick and power fixed one with Z-4000.  If power goes to track, no blown fuse  so know see if red Led flash and than stays on.  If not, you may have blown a chip and short is great enough to drag down the 5V power supply inside TIU to prevent red light from coming on.  If this is less than 1 year old, send back to MTH under warranty.  G
