I sent a private email to Trainworld regarding this concern, but I rethought my process and just feel it is important enough to discuss here. First, I just want to say I love these rendered paint schemes. They look sharp and I would consider buying them----once they come in and we see the final result.

Here's the rub, Lionel has unfortunately not delivered the most accurate actual shipping paint color compared to such advertising renderings. I'm not trying to hate on Lionel, this is just hoping they can get it in gear and improve their process and begin delivering on a lot of promises they've made over and over regarding getting paint color(s) right.

But again the real takeaway and discussion point should be the fact that these specific colors and complex contrasting paint schemes have an element of risk if the actual final colors do not match the renderings. Even slight shade differences could make these from acceptable to just plain not acceptable to the customer base. Specifically, green and red paint schemes have been some of the most noted ones to not match renderings and be shades off. My own recent Legacy Sharknose AA set, the 2 engines don't even match and they came as a pair. Heck, even on a single engine, they look 2 tone because the detail parts are one shade and the base engine color is a different shade. The picture below represents a few thousand dollars of recently purchased Lionel engines that are simply not to the standard I'm happy with.

Also, I bring up the previous Lionel Legacy CSX camo paint scheme that again where the subtle shade differences were completely lost because the actual paint did not match the renderings. https://ogrforum.ogaugerr.com/...erans-camo-paint-job

Again, Ken Jr and TW, I think you have some great offerings and I love the idea of these paint schemes. I really hope Lionel can produce them to your renderings and if that is the case, I probably would buy one. Unfortunately, what I'm not going to do is continue to support this BTO business model of order it now and "hope" it shows up right to where I'm taking the risk. You have unfortunately put yourself in situation where you are promising these schemes, and yet you depend on Lionel to get it right, where even recent history they (Lionel) simply haven't.
