I just picked up the 40' BAR Sound Boxcar from my LHS, Brentwood Antiques.

I am very impressed with the detail and add ons. Lately I've had mixed feelings on Lionel, but the build quality on the piece that I have is excellent. I want the Santa Fe now.
Got these 7 cars from a guy in Rehoboth Beach, DE today:
So my Weaver SD 40-2 arrived yesterday
Pretty nice, I need to make a little repair where the front handrail attached to the frame, that little piece snapped off so I need to do something about it. My big issue is I don't run ATSF and need to convert this to some other road. My favorite is Alaska RR but I don't think they rostered any SD 40-2s. So if I go that route since it would be a total fantasy engine I could go with a fantasy scheme to avoid a complete re-paitn. Maybe just repaint the red to blue and have an ARR blue-bonnet. Or just do something with the heralds and road number and make it a lease unit. Decisions, decisions. AMC DAve What do you think?
I LIKE that loco!!! I hated that scheme when it came out....then the merger failed and made it worse. Now time has made it kinda cool. Great looker at any rate!!
Repaint??? I don't know if I could.....but if you are and want a Alaska unit go for it. I'd remove the SF and numbers....soften the paint break lines and prime with #1699 Dupli-color. Then start with the Alaska paint.
I just got mine yesterday and these photos don't do them justice. Way too big to use on a layout, as I guess they're about 1/30 scale or maybe just a bit larger.

As a born and raised Brooklynite, nothing beats Nathan's (but it has to be from the Coney Island location... it just doesn't taste the same from any of the other locations, although I haven't been back there since they were damaged in superstorm Sandy). And having lived in NE Pennsylvania for the last 21 years, I do enjoy the occasional Yuengling - gotta get down to the brewery in Pottsville one of these days. Do you know where the Nathan's car came from???

Went to the Greenberg Show in Monroeville this AM and came home with $$ in my wallet an some nice train items plus a bag of GI stuff for my 1/6 scale M5 Stuart tank. Very happy with what I bought so it was a good show. Picked up a Lionel "General" engine and tender in very good shape and it runs good. Cost only $25, the only flaw is a corner of the cab is broken off but I have the piece to glue on. I have a General but it is really beat up. Also got a Lionel 33 that runs good for $100 which I think was pretty good. Have a better shell but might go with the original in spite of some missing paint. Got a Lionel standard gauge gondola in the 100 series with hook couplers. All this stuff was on my bucket list so I am satisfied. There are more shows but I am running out of spendable dollars so I might hold off for awhile.
Went to the TCA show in Rochester NH today and came home with a new Lionel PS-1 Boxcar with boxes inside for very short money. There were a lot of other local lines available but the cost was close to list or they were beat. Next weekend is the Greenberg show in Wilmington MA.

I was at the Train show yesterday and there was a dealer there with some really nice military models on train cars and they looked like O gauge. Thought of p51 when I saw them. Didn't see a name on them, they were in clear plastic boxes. Really looked cool but I am not in to the military stuff, mostly because they tend to be expensive.

I live in WA state, where pot is legal as well. I have zero interest in that, though... but yeah, I thought of that when I took that photo, as well.

Did you happen to he at the Puyallup, WA show? There was a vendor there selung just what you described. his stuff was 3 rail and standard gauge, something I have zero need of. however, I bought those Menards trees from the same guy.
I picked this NYC Early Bird boxcar at a local shop a couple of days ago. I don't have a layout right now and can't wait to get into our new house so I can see it running on the rails.
