I was on the phone waiting on hold the other day and decided to troll eBay. Turned up this little guy, so I gave it a shot. The MTH 20-3281-1 Premier 0-6-0 NYC USRA Steam Engine. It's only lack was it needed traction tires, no big deal. Practically new, 39 scale miles and 44 hours on the clock. I paid $198 with shipping, not to bad for a like-new Premier engine. It's also my first NYC, I didn't have any in the fleet since I sold my S2 some time back.
That is quite a deal, John! Very good looking!!
I didn't really need another switcher, but in case I need to masquerade as a NYC operator, I'll be covered.
Well if you don't really need it.....
Good project, Lee.
Thanks Mark. I’ll keep you guys posted

Actually it is a engine of the CR&I RR. Chicago River & Indiana RR which became a sub of the NYC in the 20's thus the word "System."
True, so I cover two railroads with one locomotive, what can be cooler.
Besides, it's all fixed now.

Actually no. It is still one road owned by a larger. Probably never saw true NYC territory and stayed within the CR7I RR. Just like the "Little Giant" the P&LE.
Note the word "System" on both locos. But at least in the case of the A-2A did spend some time (measured in days) on the NYC main line after pulled from the scrap line in 1955.

Some days you can't win.
Yes, Living in Western Pennsylvania I remember seeing the New York System on P&LE equipment. I never saw a NYC engine though.
On the positive side, I now know for sure that there was a NH train called the Hell Gate Express (love that name) - on the down side, not too much info on details, but might be from the days before the Osgood Bradley cars. More research is definitely in order...

Picked up this Athearn Genesis CSX 4699 Spirt Of Miami SD70M today at MB Klein. I got an ESU Loksound decoder for it and she runs like a charm. This is the first CSX unit to join the fleet. This also marks the third Athearn Genesis unit of the fleet. The first two were UP 1943 and NS 9-1-1.

For the upcoming op sessions, I had a nametag made for my name and the RR name. I went with a local company, which ironically has the same name as one of the busuinesses on my layout and is a common name in the area I model.
It's magnetic, with no pin backs.
Only 6 bucks and change, all metal.
