I have a buzzing noise in an MTH proto 1 F unit.  It is pretty loud and stays on until the engine warms up.  It also comes and goes at other times.  Is there any way to stop this short of killing all the sound coming out of the speaker?  I could disconnect the speaker but I would still like the horn.  Forgot to mention that while this buzzing is going on if you blow the horn it sounds garbled.

Thanks, Ray

I don't have anything more specific than that. I just look at the value of the big caps that sit off the board and are held there by double sided tape, and replace them with the same value.

There are other repair persons on this forum who have much more experience with PS-1 than I and maybe they will chime in.

I have noticed a similar noise on my PS-1 Galloping Goose when first powered up. IF I put it on more than 12-14 VAC it sounds terrible for a couple minutes, then clears up.

It seems the charging circuit is gobbling up big chunks of current, Interfering with the sound.

Lowering the track voltage reduces this and eliminates the noise.
