Greetings - I purchased an MTH Premier F-3 "Lehigh Valley" A Unit. I would love to get the Powered B Unit. I can't seem to find an F3 B unit with Lehigh Valley colors. My question is can I buy ANY MTH Premier F3 Powered B Unit regardless of the road name and have it work with my Lehigh Valley A unit? If that's the case, I'm thinking about purchasing one and have someone repaint the shell with Lehigh Valley colors? An alternative is to find a non-powered Lehigh Valley B unit and swap the shells with another powered B Unit. I'll keep looking for a Lehigh Valley B Unit but I figured I would ask. Thankyou.

I'm going with no, not enough information.

MTH made PS1, PS2 (both 5V and later 3V variants), and PS3 along with various powered slave units that might be highly incompatible.

We would have to know the exact lead unit product number (20-xxxx-1 or 30-xxxx-1) and the intended target B unit product number to attempt to do that analysis, or otherwise have the shells removed and good pictures of the electronics to know.

Thanks Vernon. Based on your reply I will need to scope out a B unit that will support the F3 that I purchased. The number is 20-21595-1. I think I might attempt to contact MTH and see what they say. Appreciate your time. Thanks,,,,,

Since this is a new PS/3 unit, the answer is simple.  Current product has no tether, each powered unit is an independent engine and to run them together you create a lash-up.  That being the case, any recent B-Unit with PS/3 is fine.

Note that early PS/3 did actually have a slave board, but they dropped that in later years and went to fully independent units.

You will come out cheaper buying both an unpowered B in LV and a powered unit. swap the shells then sell your unwanted shell on the dummy B unit chassis. Custom paint jobs are quite time consuming and don't come cheap. Swapping shells gives you a unit to sell and recoup some of your money not to mention the LV shell will likely be a better match for your A unit than a custom paint job.                              j
