MTH's CN ES44DC, SD70M-2, SD40-3 tunnel motor, and their yet to be released new dash 8(in the light blue livery). From the pictures you post, I am assuming modern freight is your thing...

Lionel has a CN SD70M-2 coal set that might be to your liking , as well.

BTW, I'm thinking the MTH BNSF ES44AC, found in the 2010 Vol. 2 catalog is going to be a great looking unit... especially with those steerable trucks painted silver.

Rick
Here's a short list so far:

MTH 4-bay cylindrical hoppers- in CN gray and the new mineral red
GT and CN 60’ auto parts boxcars (Atlas)
Atlas O 50’ boxcar
MTH CN hi-cubes (very nice)
MTH Canada 4-bay cylindrical hopper (lettered for CN)
MTH auto racks

plus all the Canadian 100-ton cylindrical hoppers for their grain train!!

That’s a good start for sure- CN trains really look cool -

engines:

SD70M-2
ES44DC
SD40-2
An addendum to my first post, here -

MTH previously put out a CN SD40-2, and a GP40(with the North American map silhouette logo).

I have personally made some great looking M.U. consists with the big six axles I suggested, and I think having one or two SD40-2's added to a consist might be quite satisfying.

The GP40 could roam your yard.

CN acquired the British Columbia Railroad(BCR) so that is an option as well. I have a nice MTH BCR SD40-2 in the two tone green livery(with the dogwood flower logo).

CN and CP are my local railways, plus the BNSF. The CN and CP share their assets in my area, but do not mix the equipment in the trains. They are either CN powered or CP powered. Sometime the BNSF will have CN power added in.

Rick
Re: how the power is deployed for CN. I usually see CN place their power up front(all units DC powered).

CP on the other-hand, usually puts a unit up front, in the middle; and one at the rear(all units AC powered).

BNSF coal does two in the front and two in the rear(all units AC powered).

BNSF mixed freights appear to be running with both, AC and DC power, with the power usually sitting up front.

Rick
Mike as Alan and Jeff know I have a small liking for the CN and GTW like you do for the BNSF.
I would post some pictures but my pc with the pictures is in the shop. Jeff has a lot of pictures of some of my CN rolling stock and Power.

I do really like the EC44's and so I bought 6 power units. I have 3 of the new Dah 8's on order and they are due to ship in Nov. These inits are in a lihjy Blue and represent about 12 Fash 8's that CN got whne the CN bought the old IC.
before MTH came out with them.

Maybe Jeff will put up some of the CN items he has pictures of for us.

Mike welcome to the CN fan club. Smile
i DO LIKE THE bLACK. rED AND wHITE STRIP UNITS OF CN WITH THE CN NOODLE.

Mike you may know that Jeff did the original set of CN Stack cars with the CN Zebra stripes. He did those about 3 years ago

Yes, I can attest that the "J" is carrying a lot more freight traffic through Lake Zurich, most of it lead by CN, but we still see a few orange "J" locomotives, either with CN's, or running all-J (very cool for photographers). As Mike said, the politicians and NIMBY's hated the acquisition; the railfans are of a different mind.
Joe,

I think he meant the SD70M-2.

Rich,

Very cool. Love the SD40-3.

This whole business of sticking to one road to model is impossible. So much cool stuff that prototypically is seen together. This CN thing is serious. The NS bug is biting too. MUST FOCUS...need more Atlas O track...must focus....but the Canadian grain cars are so nice!
Yeap Mike, that's the one (M-2) I saw. It had older trucks under it. I always get confused when some newer models have older trucks? It must be easier than retooling everything. I've learned to check first, because you never know what's under there! Joe
I think we're talking about different models. There's a SD70M-2, SD70MAC, and is there a SD70M?? I forget which were released as a CN version.

It will be a sad day when the engines going across that bridge are not orange and black.

Ok, now I found this one:

When I looked at these at shows and Trainz, they had the older trucks. I believe some maybe labeled wrong in their boxes. When I found one it had older trucks.
I guess they re-released this model with the newer trucks. I have just never seen it. The search shows 2 of them now, out there. Joe

here's a set with the older trucks:

Joe,

MTH made a premier CN SD70M. It was in a 2005 catalog, I believe. It had EMD's older North American Safety cab, it was also the first Premier model to get MTH's new 3 axle truck. I don't believe that it came in a scale wheels version, though.
I actually had one for a short time, but I returned it... because I didn't like the way it fit on my track(I was only using O-36 FasTrack at the time).

At the time, I never new I would eventually move up to O-72 track; and I definitely wished I had kept that locomotive... I really liked it's looks.

BTW, the truck placement is similar to MTH's current SD70MAC, and SD60's... it's not prototypical re: it's placement.

Rick
MTH's current SD70MAC has a more accurate body(closer to the prototype MAC) than the version that preceded it. I believe the previous MTH Premier SD70MAC used their(MTH's) SD70M body, and just put a MAC sticker on it. That body, and truck(s) was/is the same as the CN SD70M I had.

In case this is confusing... MTH made/makes a SD70M, a SD70M-2, a SD70MAC; and SD70ACe.

Rick
Mike I also reallu like the Canadian Grain Trains in the 100 ton 4 bay hopper cars.
I also like the Lionel coal porters in CN with the rotary joints.
Lionel made the white CN GATX Oil can cars which are nice.

The SD40-3 Tunnel motor Diesels are a very nice power unit.

I also like the Green and Gold F-7'S to pull my passenger cars.

I like the old ZEBRA strips on my PA's and SD-90's that I had Jeff paint for me.
