In how our hobby has transformed recently, do you prefer to get the Annual / Semi annual catalogs like Lionel just issued or do you prefer the almost daily emails with uncatalogued specials like MTH has gone to. As for me I prefer the catalog as it helps me get the year in perspective with my purchases and budgeting. Curious to know your thoughts. Happy Railroading!!!

There's been a discussion of this in the past ... but it's a good time to ask again.
For me:
Catalogs. Always.

I prefer the catalog(s) but I do enjoy the occasional emails from the manufacturers and dealers. The daily stuff does get tiring and I really don’t even open them anymore.
Catalogs. They’re a great reference and another thing to collect.
I do like holding that printed catalog in my hands. There is still something special when that annual big book arrives in the mail!
Catalogue, and I mean printed. MTH and Lionel quit sending me any 2 years ago, suddenly and simultaneously. The online catalogue I peruse once or twice when it comes out, then I tend to forget about it, so I forget to buy anything.
The printed version I used to look at multiple times with my morning coffee. Its absence has saved me money. The online version has never sold me anything.
Printed catalog. I may not be interested in something right away, but maybe a year or two later, I might begin a search for an older item, and want to see what it looked like, or specifications.
One definitely lends itself more to be read on the throne.

Unfortunately for traditional O scale items there will be no printed catalog this year.
I thought they said their bread-and-butter sales were with the starter sets and the like. If so, then why I only print the high-end stuff??....

I prefer the catalog. Just received my catalog today and it only has 100 pages and the online catalog has 258 pages.
What’s up with this? Has anyone else noticed this?

This should come as no surprise to anyone, it's a matter of $ cost $, expect less in print as time goes on, it's the digital age.
