I just saw a TV news report that our governor will pay for the study of our Buffalo train station. It's in need of repairs or replacement I believe. So they're considering putting it back into the Central Terminal where it was before ( up to '79?).

That side of Buffalo is in need of some development. I've met the people there and they're good people overall. There's always some bad eggs that come in and give it a bad name. With such a great historical building already in place, spending a few million to build a new station or repair some other, would be sad. I feel they made that mistake years ago and they could fix that now. That Terminal building could be put back to it's glory days condition. It's sad that it was just a place for vandals and punks to destroy for all these years. Why not invest in a part of Buffalo to make the area proud?

Earlier this month, Congressman Higgins joined Buffalo Common Council member David Franczyk and Central Terminal Restoration Corporation director Mark Lewandowski on a tour of the East Side landmark. Higgins, at the time, said he wanted to begin exploring options for a new site in advance of that funding. He was advised during the tour that although the Central Terminal last welcomed Amtrak service in 1979, the building remains structurally sound.

Higgins was scheduled to return to the Central Terminal on Thursday with additional guests, New York State lawmakers. "
