What an interesting (and perhaps unusual) hobby this is.

The above ad is filled with what I guess are called "fantasy" offerings: Potter, Star Trek, holidays, etc, with a few models based on "real" railroads (in this case diesel switchers) thrown into the mix.

So many want stuff to be as real looking as possible; equally, so many like... pretty much anything/everything else.

Offhand, I can't think of another hobby that embraces both so completely. I guess it's a big tent!

Not making any judgements here, just observing...🙂

Mark,

They sometimes include scale models in their sales, announcements. I was happy to order the Lionel, CTCX, 30,000 gallon, Tank Car, 3 Pack, at a great price, on the most recent Thanksgiving Day, as part of their Black Friday Sales. The tank cars even had the half-height end shields just like modern tank cars. I can't wait to convert them to 2-rail.

Also, you could reserve any model you might find in the Lionel catalogs, choosing scale models while ignoring fantasy schemes.

These are just my opinion,

Naveen Rajan
