I know I can connect an LCS app to the Wi-Fi module in access point mode. That's no problem.

What I'm trying to figure out is if I have the Legacy System Utility on my desktop computer, can that computer communicate with the Wi-Fi Module in access point mode? I so, how?

Cheers!
Keith

The Wi-Fi module doesn't have an Ethernet port. The desktop computer would need a Wi-Fi network card or USB Wi-Fi dongle.

I have a Wi-Fi dongle on my desktop computer. It's an Edimax EW-7811Un.

Still, the Legacy System Utility will not connect with the Lionel Wi-Fi module when the latter is in access point mode. The impression I get from the LSU manual is that this should work in access point mode.

(I have no problem connecting the LCS iPad app to the Lionel Wi-Fi module in access point mode. Also, I can connect the LSU to the Lionel Wi-Fi module in network mode.)

The Edimax dongle allows my desktop computer to see the Lionel Wi-Fi network, but the desktop will not connect to the Lionel network and I get a message saying it's because of low wireless signal quality.

Any ideas?

Keith

At this point, I'm getting the message shown here:

It says that my desktop computer is connected to the Lionel Wi-Fi network, but not to the internet. It seems to me that that should be fine, because if I'm connected to the Lionel Wi-Fi network in access point mode, I should only be connected to the Lionel network and not to the internet. Is that right? But still, the Lionel LSU will not connect to the Lionel Wi-Fi network in access point mode.
