Coupler problem

Bought new Lionel GE EVO Hybrid ES44AC from individual. Front coupler fires with Legacy Cab 2 controller remote but when you try to reconnect to first car behind engine coupler fails to close. Can not close coupler manually by pushing on vertical tab but can close if you push on horizontal tab inside coupler. Feels like it is catching on something. Have tried a little oil, took apart and looked at coupler but couldn't I'd problem. Same problem after I reinstalled it. Front coupler works fine. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks Bobby O Gage. Seems coupler doesn't want to close. Some times you can push the little flat piece inside the coupler that the next car bumps against to close the coupler and it will close. Acts like it is catching on something.
