Got my Wifi hardware today and installed it with no issues.  Loaded in my engines and began running some trains.  Most things seemed to work of course until they didn't.  I crashed more trains in two hours that I have crashed in the last 10 years.   Here is an example in video form.    The NYC 256 has a max speed set at 40 SMPH.   Things are just not responding the way you think they should.  You would think it would shut down, but it doesn't.

My O-6-O went berserk when I started it up and went to 100 MPH and crashed through a closed switch into my Santa Fe passenger set.   Lots of run.

Could not get the "bug" to repeat.  That does not mean it isn't a bug.  It just means I haven't pushed all the same buttons I did when it happened.

Anyway, the App is very nice but I have a few suggestions so far.

1.  There should be a maximum speed setting for an MTH lashup.  There is now only maximum for individual locos.

2.  There should be a way to clone the iphone or ipad App settings to transfer to other similar devices or for archival purposes.

I've never seen this one happen yet?

I haven't tried pressing shutdown while the engines are running. I usually bring stuff to a stop or press the direction button for faster stops.

For others, If you are adjusting the speed by tapping on the up (or down) arrows too much, it will quickly throw the speed to max (or zero). Try pressing (tapping) the speed dial where you want the speed to be.

You can either call this a flaw or work with it the way it is.

I believe there is a file transfer?

I agree on the need for lash-up consist settings!

There is, and it's fast and easy:More.../Advanced Features/Import/Export

The export feature is simple enough.  The App is going to send you an email with a file attached.

The import is a little more klugie.

1. You need to open the email on the target device in an email App that is tied into the operating system of the device.  On the iPhone or iPad you open Apple Mail.

2. You are instructed to click on the attachment icon and that will open a dialog that lists your available Apps.

3. Slide the list to select the MTH App.  When you click on it that will open the MTH App in import mode.   Follow the prompts to import the file.

Does the import add to what’s already there or replace it.  I don’t know.

Jim,

Does the import add to what’s already there or replace it.

The imported file completely replaces the existing fie.

The import is a little more klugie.

Not if you''re using an iOS device. Then you would use AirDrop in one of two ways, depending upon which version of iOS you have on the device that's doing the export.

For iOS prior to iOS 11:

  • Navigate to Import/Export and tap Export.
  • When the "Export Complete" box appears, tap on "Share"
  • In the next box, tap on "AirDrop" and select the iOS device to which you want to send the file to be imported by that device's DCS App.
  • In the other iOS device's sharing screen, select the DCS App and tap on it.
  • Tap on "Import" on the "Import App Data" screen.

For iOS 11 or later:

  • Navigate to Import/Export and tap Export.
  • When the "Export Complete" box appears, tap on "Share"
  • In the next box, tap on "Save to Files".
  • In the next list, tap on TextEdit and the tap "Add" at the top-right of the screen. You'll have the option to either overwrite a previous Export File or save this one as a different file.
  • Now, tap on the Files icon on the device's Home Screen and tap on the TextEdit icon.
  • Tap on the Sharing icon at the top-right of the next screen.
  • In the other iOS device's sharing screen, select the DCS App and tap on it.
  • Tap on "Import" on the "Import App Data" screen.

To use the AirDrop method, you need to have the following turned on on both iOS devices:

  • WiFi must be on, however, you don't need to be actually connected to a network, although you can be.
  • Bluetooth must be on, however, you don't need to be actually connected to any other device, although you can be.
  • AirDrop must be turned on and, if the device to which you're exporting is not one registered to someone in your Contacts list, AirDrop must be set to "Everyone".

The reason that there are two different methods for AirDrop is due to changes that Apple made in iOS11.
