I am planning to depart Oct. 6 on a 2-week trip by car from California through Denver to Iowa and Tennessee.  The main purpose is to help a fellow in Iowa with his TMCC/Legacy signal problems.  I will be carrying enough test gear to do troubleshooting.

I would certainly like to stop briefly along the way to meet any Forum members along the route (I-15 to I40 to I80 to Iowa City, crosscountry to Clarksville, TN, returning on I40).

I am aware that this time partially overlaps with York, but this is what works for me due to other commitments.

Dale,

Based on Google maps directions from Iowa City IA to Clarksville TN, you would be driving through Wentzville MO on 40/61. That is only 10 to 12 miles from where I live, and mostly a very easy drive on I-70. Let me know if you are interested and approximate visit date, and I'll email you directions. You may like my layout.

Dale, Wentzville is a distant suburb of St. Louis, about 45 minut to 1 hour drive from the Lionel Railroad Club. Perhaps Ingeniero No1 might be able to make the trip in along with anyone else in the St. Louis area. The Club is located in the south city area not far from the Newer River City Casino, Just off I-55.

Update:

Departed California at 6:22 a.m. on Saturday.  Arrived in Grand Junction (835 miles) for the night.

Sunday - Arrived Denver mid-afternoon.  Met up with Chuck Sartor at a local restaurant for coffee.  Nice visit!  Then headed for the monthly TCA Rocky Mountain Division meeting at 6:00.  Jerry Foss was my host.  I won a bulkhead car as a door prize, and I purchased a 2343 unpowered A that is in poor condition and missing the power pickup.  Susan Deats invited me to visit her layout on Monday.  I stopped at Jerry Foss's house after the meeting to view his layout.

Monday - My sister and I visited Susan's layout.  What fun!  Thanks, Susan.  My (non-train) sister really enjoyed meeting you.  We then went to Caboose Hobbies, to meet Xavier, the repair tech who sends me TMCC controllers for repair.

Tuesday - time with family

Wednesday - departing early for Iowa

Dale....

On your way back from Tennessee via I-40, when you get to Memphis, if you will take 412/65/62 across northern Arkansas ( rather than through Little Rock), you will be within blocks of my home as you pass through Mountain Home.  You can rejoin I-40 in western Arkansas.  About the same distance in miles although slower of course.

Anyway, you are welcome to be our overnight guest and will be handed a remote to run on the layout!!

Thanks,

Alan
