I have recently connected my Z4000 to my TPC 300 to my TIU.

( TPC 300 allows fine control of voltage in conventional mode for my postwar locomotives)

When the TPC is in command mode I can use either a TMCC controller or DCS controller for command equipped locomotives.

In TPC conventional mode, the TMCC controller works fine with conventional locomotives.

Problem/question: initially I turn the Z4000 handle up to 18 volts.

When I turn on the TPC 300, the voltage indicator on the Z4000 drops to 14 volts.

For many command equipped locomotives, I need to push up the Z4000 handle up to about 16 volts to get proper operation.

That means the Z4000 is actually up to 20 or more volts.

Is my TPCC operating correctly?

Why does it drop the meter from 18 to 14 when I turn on the TPC 300?

thank you

No answers here, I'm curious what Tiu channel your using?  when all the channels are set to fixed they should be a straight through connection. That should rule out the TIU unless using a var channel in var mode.

I used to have an early  TPC but have forgotten most of the features.... I believe you can set the max voltage with the cab-1  by taking the bottom cover off and using the L M H settings.....    Which setting do you use for conventional.  The H or L (maybe neither)
