About this time of year when I was working Christmas season was over. Our stores had everything for the holidays including the candy stored in their back rooms. By mid September it was to be out on the selling floor. Myself I was preparing for the next spring and summer merchandise. Ah! the fun of retail, I almost miss it.

In Southern Arizona, we have two train seasons, just like we have two rainy seasons. We have the normal train season around Christmas (which coincides with the winter rains), and the summer monsoon is the time for heavy work on the layout because it's too hot to go outside except to jump in the pool. Our museum shuts down for July and August and that's when we do the extensive renovations on the layouts. This year they are completely rebuilding the HO layout, repairing, rewiring, and adding some enhancements to 0 gauge, and the Standard/G gauge "Large Scale" layout is being rebuilt with the addition of a second Standard Gauge loop on the lower level, a dedicated area for classic toys, and the G gauge moved to a newly built upper level. We reopen to the public next Sunday, September 9.

Train season kinda runs all year for me.  Around Christmas is when it really picks up, and the train show season with the club.  Between school, boy scouts and everything else that goes on, I just play trains when I have time.

I put an ERR Cruise Commander M into my Lionel Mikado Jr today, so I guess you can say it's officially started
