Seeing Exact Rail recently cut out the dealers and went direct only, maybe they'll be able to hold the line on prices.

Are they going to make their Greenville Gondolas and Magor Covered Hoppers in O Scale. I would like those in O Scale.

OK I am curious. The text says they received a "machining center". Just what does a machining center do ?

It's not the same one in Exact Rail's picture, but I'm guessing it's something like this:

I work in a different hobby....but we produce kits in China currently. As discussed on this BB earlier cost are going up fast......and right now there is no 'new' low cost manufacturing center that can attain the quality WE get out of Chinese vendors. I know others in our hobby are looking at US base production and I bet most will follow. This has a number of consequences covered here before. But cost is cost no matter the location and they are going to equal out soon....until South Africa or other low cost center opens.

It's used to turn CAD drawings into completed tooling like injection molds.
Thanks for telling what the machine does. It looks expensive.

Probably around $50,000-$60,000 and up. Then there's the cost of the material to be machined and the skilled operator to program and run it.
