Hi John

Thanks for the quick reply. I did not want to hi jack this thread https://ogrforum.ogaugerr.com/t...21#72101420823382221. So I thought I would ask my question here. I planning on upgrading some Lionel TMCC engines that I have to ERR. I saw that you used a/the Molex extraction tools and avoided solder and keep the upgrade nice and neat. I would like to know which Molex extraction tools you would use on those upgrades.

I wonder if you really want a tool for the JST connectors. In that case all you have to do is lift the flat rectangular tab holding the pin in which is done from the outside. Take a good look at the connectors you think you want to modify or post a picture here with dimensions (measures distance between pins).

This thread might be informative also...

Kris, They both may work. The second link is of a larger tool (red/white) but could be modified to work as I did on the one below. The white/teal is actually a smaller diameter with the bottom of the "U" ground off which leaves the two prongs shown in the pic. The second one is homemade using .010" beryllium copper (spring temper) and a piece of copper clad circuit board. Both work.

The advantage of my tools vs the Molex tools is both barbs get depressed at the same time vs one side at a time.

Keep in mind this is not used very often unless you plan to convert many Odyssey diesels to an ERR Cruise M.

I would first thank everyone for replying with their ideas suggestion and comments.  For the benefit of those you have been following and not adding to the subject I did order the extract from Digikey, here are the links:

I need other parts so it made sense to piggyback off my Digikey order and add the extractors.
