Does anyone have a source for plastic sheets that are translucent or frosted for building windows?
Thanks in advance,

Milk Jugs, free after breakfast.
I use plastic index dividers and full page sheet protectors that are made for notebooks. They come in a variety of colors, sizes and mil thickness. Big box type office supply stores or school supply sections usually have these. However, I found the best color selections at Target. If you look up an old post of mine about building the " Palm Springs Station" you'll see how I used the sheets for my glazing effects.

Plastruct supplies many different colors including translucent. You can also spray clear plastic with rust oleum frosted glass spray.
How about Vellum - a.k.a. translucent printing paper. Sold at craft stores (Michael's), office stores (Staples), and even Target. If not familiar with the stuff, I'll send you a few 8-1/2" x 11" sheets - no charge, free shipping.
Here's what I have:
Hobby Lobby has some that I found perfect for my uses.
I use Plastruct .06 acrylic sheets that I frost by scouring them on both sides with a Brillo and Comet or Ajax. Just make sure you keep it wet and they are laying flat on something while you are doing it, it sometimes will grab and krinkle it.

Yoyu can take the clear sheet and rough them up with a bit of steel wool and you get instant frosting. Ive used that on a few projects in the past.
Wow so many great ideas! Thank you! I'll try some of these maybe starting with roughing up some clear that I have already.

The best deal I found is at Lowe’s or Home Depot. If you look in the section with window covering they sell a roll of the material as a window covering such as to “frost” the glass in a bathroom. I think it is maybe 15 to 20 dollars for a large role, maybe 36” wide by a number of feet. For me this works great as you can cut it to any size.
If your family drinks milk, the plastic milk jugs make a great free source of frosted material.

Nick-
We use this product. It knives easily and produces a nice glow. It is also translucent enough to show shadows.
With 8-1/2" x 11" translucent printing paper you can, uhh, print on them! Not sure what effect you're looking for but you could print window panes, curtains, store signage, etc. Everyone has their opinion on silhouette passenger cars but that's another application of printing onto translucent windows.

Yes! And of course, you can also print on transparent films designed for overhead projectors. Excellent for dealing with muntins, mullions and other features of multi-pane windows.
Thanks again for all the info! Isnt this forum great? I ordered a pack of the dura-lar that Douglas Pitney suggested. Im sure it'll work great. I'll post some pics when I get a building done. Thanks again!

Frosted Scotch tape. By its self or layered, sometimes stuck on a Q-tip box or top to a carry-out salad's container.
