Boin's Garage and Gas is now open for business.  It is located on the main drag in the rural town of Beawslaiw, California.  Beawslaiw is located along the South Pacific Coast Daylight mainline somewhere between San Francisco and Los Angeles, circa 1950.  The town has freight and passenger service with the Southern Pacific and the Brisbane & Bushong Railroad.  The gas station is a laser cut wood kit from Twin Whistle.  The garage building is a laser wood kit made by Full Steam Ahead.  Matt

Inspired. Splendid!

There are so many focal points of interest I can't pick just one favorite.  But a few that stand out to me:

-the grass area next to the gas station, so realistic.  Can see a light breeze blowing that willow grass

-your side walk detailing/weathering is outstanding

-the mechanic rolling the tire really brings you into the scene.  I fully expected to see his next step forward as he rolled the tire into the shop

i can imagine a night shot would be equally Impressive.  I have been saving misc. items to kit bash a gas station on my own layout.  Yours certainly sets the bar high.

Enjoy!  Thanks for sharing.

By the way, if ever you are down here in San Diego, I invite you to a fly fishing session in the salt.  I just read your profile and see you like to throe chicken feathers, as do I.

This year my annual fly fishing triptook me to Argentina's Patagonia region, that was top of my destination list.  Crossed that one off, New Zealand next.  Might try to squeeze in a quick weekend excursion to Mammoth to fish the Owens.

thanks for your many years of public service in law enforcement. Looks like you have a great headstart on your layout before your upcoming retirement.

Again, anytime you want to fish thesal, let me know,  have plenty of gear, just bring your cast.  Have had a fun summer and fall.  Bonefish, Corvina, Shovel nose guitarfish, Corbina, Croaker and of course many fat little hungry surf perch.

That's a nice

Everybody familiar with ESSO

I have made a lot of flyfishing trips but all in the US and Canada.

My primary rods are a 5 wt sage 8 1/2 foot

A 3 wt,  10 !/2 ft and 1 wt, 6 ft  home made rods

Had a 7 wt penn reel salt water set  up on an LLBean graphite but gave it to my cousin because it was getting much use.

That would be fun.  I've never flyfished saltwater.  For the last 25 years I've been fishing with 3 other work buddies.  We mostly fish Northern California...Hat Creek, Pitt River, Fall River, McCloud River, Truckee River, Feather River, Yuba River and E. Carson River.  We have also fished the Owen River and Hot Creek.  We did go on a long distance trip and fished the Colorado and the Green Rivers.  We also used to fish this Orvis-sponsored private resort called Oasis.  It is up near Lassen National Park on Battle Creek.  Matt
