This weekend was the annual festival at my local steam railway here in Holland.

I promised Hot water that I'd try to film a BR44 in action this weekend, but neither were in steam. The one below was ready at the shed, and the other was halfway through being re-painted.  So I wasn't able to film either of them steaming through the Dutch countryside this year. I'll try again next year.

Anyway, there was quite a good selection of locomotives in steam, and here are a few of them. I hope that they may be of interest.

Although I didn't get any photographs of it this year, a BR01 pacific was also in steam yesterday and I rode behind it for one trip.

The BR50 front end shot looks like a steam punk version of Darth Vader's flagship. Heavy metal indeed. Instead of a cow catcher, the pilot looks like a Kinsu knife ready to cut through what have you. Who needs buffers?..just slice on through. This would be one frightful machine howling like a banshee at night for a small kid at track side , who would soon need a new pair of shorts.

Love it. Thanks for posting.
