Since the day I bought this set, the StationSounds Diner car sounds have worked fine, but the volume leaves much to be desired. I've turned it up all the way and compared to the Acela sounds, or any other dialogue sounds to include the crew dialogue, etc., it's been anemic. Is there anything I can do to increase the sound volume? When the train is moving, even at a slow speed, it is difficult to hear the announcements. Thanks.

Ed,
Take a look at the speaker, it is probably tiny. I do not know how much room you have in the diner but you might do well with a larger speaker. I had similar problems with my Polar Express and putting a different speaker in made a world of difference. You will need a speaker with similar ohm rating.

Ray, thanks for the suggestion. I'll pull it apart and see. If I can install a larger speaker, I'll do that. Thanks.
Hi Ed,
I would be careful of the type of speaker you install, the OHM's should really match. Also this unit comes with a baby fat boy speaker 8 OHM's 2 watts, which is a very good speaker. First thing i would do is reprogram it, if that doesn't do anything then i would re-seat the boards inside. If nothing changes i would look into the volume pot, and maybe a new speaker, but i would install the same value speaker.

Alex, Ray, I'm really embarrassed. I opened it up and then took Alex's advice to reprogram. I then re-read the manual. All this time, I somehow overlooked the soft key (AUX1,1) which increases the volume!!! I always just went to the dialogue commands and the volume pot on the bottom. Sheesh...such a rookie mistake. Thanks Gents, if you hadn't commented I'd probably still be pulling out my hair over the volume and at my age, that's a very precious and scarce commodity. I love this forum.
Very happy for you. Now you can enjoy even more.
