I’m pondering a new paint scheme for a recently purchased GG-1. How many have a GG-1 in something other than the usual Pennsylvania road ?  I do know of a “stunning” pink version from my good friend Gerry Morliz!   Who else has something different?    Pictures please!

Oh the humanity of it !   I think the PRR GG1 is so engrained in my mind as a Pennsy locomotive that I cannot even fathom the thought of it painted for any other road.

That said, the repaints that have been posted by those above are magnificent examples of fine workmanship.

Hello Chris. What a silly thing to do.

OK, this is serious.  We're now going to have to hunt you down like a dog.    Such sacrilege will not be tolerated!!!

An OUTRAGE!  Plasphony plain old plasphony!  Penn Central was bad enough but this is...words fail me.     I am going to find a Hutson and paint it Tuscan and put Pennsylvania on the tender. ... Then take it to the range.

John, I'm a Philly boy even though I've worked in NYC the last 40 years. Do what you want with a Hudson. I have a tuscan K-4, and it's not bad. But not as pretty as a Hudson, and a tuscan one would be nice, but probably not as nice as one in a Lackawanna paint scheme (I'd say Santa Fe, but Ben would probably banish me).

My engines were painted by Jeff Sohn, who is a Forumite. I don't know if Jeff paints engines anymore (I do know he stopped at one point), but he did a great job for me. Both GG1's are MTH premier engines. The picture of Mike holding the pink GG1 was taken at Marty Fitzhenry's house, probably about 10 years ago. That was a time when Mike still said he was not going to do "fantasy" engines. He really had a look of incredulity when he saw it. I do like these engines.

Chris, how about either of these schemes with the black roof, and possibly the nose with silver side, the gold striping and purple inside the strips, where these say Pennsylvania so that the gold stripes break up the purple band?gg1_5bg2gg1_bbg

Great idea Joe but i’m Not that good with stripes. If I could do what you did with the images you posted I could experiment with the colors I’m thinking about. Any other suggestions would definitely be appreciated!

I now understand why they used to burn heritics at the stake... break out the torches and pitchforks

In keeping with the season (and as I am currently watching the 1938 version of A Christmas Carol), to paraphrase Ebineezer Scrooge, anyone who would adulterate a beautiful GG-1 in this manner should be boiled with his own smoke fluid of choice and buried with a stake of railroad tie through his heart!!!

I told a friend who believes a computer is a tool of the devil that the OGR forum had a tread about GG1s painted in other roads other then the PRR.  My friend after hearing this news suddenly turned pale then red, and snorted out the following. I am going to tell the wife to put a Italian/ Polish hex on them( he claims his wife is a Witch,) I think he said Witch,  and turn their GG1s into puddles of metal.

I said great idea!  Tell her to do the same for all gauges also, and corrode all their track while she is at it. I think that should fix their cabooses
