About 20-25. My biggest problem was low track voltage. Make sure you have a good 17-18v.

do you recall how many drops of smoke fluid that you added.  I started with 26 because of the comments on the forum of the smoke units being a smoke fluid hogs.

The stack and the whistle steam are operating correctly; like that alternating smoke stack chuff ( it doesn't alternate that way in reverse, should it)?.

The sound file is fine.

This is also true of my ATSF 3000; weak blow down steam effect

"Finally 12 days shipping.. Thanks for nothing UPS"

I would suggest that you request a refund of the shipping charges. It will go to the shipper, but I am sure they will be happy to send the dollars to you since you paid for them anyway. There is no excuse for this.

My GMToT sat in a container for a week in MA that was one day shipping away from us. They asked if I wanted a refund of the shipping charges and I said absolutely. You should not be paid for poor service. (nothing against our UPS delivery guy who does a super job for us).

And of course that blowdown issue brought up earlier.

Well it does have that horrible overhang around turns. For $2000 Lionel could have at least fixed this issue, glad I didn't buy one

Well put!

Case in point, the guy who recently started all the VL BB threads with why he didn't buy it, complaining, etc.

He didn't stop there, though.  He shared it in other threads (not started by him), completely off subject to someone else's original thread topic.

I just quit reading his posts/replies: nothing positive or constructive to learn.

I bought (1) 4006.  Despite HW's selfless, cheery and informative comment about the incorrect blow down effect, I went ahead and bought the vl big boy anyway.  It won't arrive until this Friday.  When it does arrive and I hear the whistle, play with refilling the tender and pulling a string of 20 PFE reefers I know I will be kicking myself as I have to suffer through watching that ridiculous blow down and don't get me started about the asinine cab chatter.  Somehow I will suffer through it and enjoy playing with it anyway.

EXCELLENT modeling strategy! Nothing like having the 4014 "parked" next to 844 in the Cheyenne steam shop, which isn't going anyplace soon either, while 3985 is "stored" over in the last stall of the roundhouse.
