Hi

I want to hookup  a lionel Lcs to a lionel #990 Command Base that is already hooked up to a MTH Tiu and Wiu via a Y cable the tiu is an old style with only a serial port, so do i put a 2nd y cable on the command base and have one y cable on the lionel command base and another one on the mth tiu, would this be the correct way to install it ?

2nd question

what is the difference between the old 180W lionel Powerhouse part# 6-22983 and the New 180W powerhouse part# 6-85226 ?

Any help will be appriciated

You will need a SER2 along with the MTH legacy cable  see you the diagram below

what about the MTH Wiu ?

do you know what was changed on the new powerhouse ?

The WIU connects to the TIU. If you have a TIU with a USB it goes right to that. If you only have a serial input on the TIU you will need a serial “Y” readily available on Amazon and a USB to Serial adapted for the WIU. The Y allows the WIU and SER2 (via the MTH Legacy cable) to connect to the TIUs serial connection.

Serial Y cable.

imageAs for the 180s I don’t know what the differences are.

Ok so i understand everything except 1 thing

i hookup the lionel Legacy command base with the lionel 6-81499 cable/power supply, then hookup the lionel LCS wifi with the pdi cable, from there to the ser2 with another pdi cable, then run the MTH 50-1032 cable from the ser2 to the mth tiu with a Y cable attached to the front ser port of the tiu now here is where i see the problem the cable that mth gives you to run from the wiu to the tiu has a type A usb port on one side and a type B usb port on the other side  since i am using a older tiu with just a db9 serial port on it i would need a DB9 serial to usb TYPE B adapter, but i cannot find those i dont think anyone makes them only a DB9 serial to type A usb, so the only thing i can think of is you cannot use the cable that MTH supplies with the WIU is that correct i would have to get a usb cable with type A ends on both sides and use that cable with a serial db9 to usb type A adapter which are readly available on amazon and that would plug into the other port of the Y cable on the tiu. Does this all sound right that i cannot use the Usb cable supplied by Mth for the old style Tiu, My guess is it can only be used for the Newer rev L TIU.

Thanks
