Us technicians tend to over think the issue, if you haven’t done this already give it a try. I call it the Microsoft reboot! LoL Turn off the cab2 remote and then unplug the cab2 base for 15 seconds. Plug in the power to your base2 and let it boot for 15 seconds. Turn on the cab2 remote and let it search for the base. Channel 5 is typical. Fingers crossed, the cab2 remote and base2 will connect.

Thanks Scott I tried what you said but to no resolution as I suspected would happen! still not connecting to base, maybe the remote is the problem at least Lionell is still repairing the remote I mailed one 990 remote to Lionel and I'm waiting for it to be repaired Lionel just told me they received the remote for repair!

It's easy to test the remote, just take it to another layout that has Legacy.

Is there something common that fails on the base or is it top secret?

As fast as everyone was to come up with fixes for the tiu, I'm surprised all you smart lectronic guys ain't all over this

No it's not "Top Secret".  Open up your base and take a look.  I guess it was less of a priority when Lionel was repairing them for free.  Maybe now that there are no longer parts available for them to do so the demand will make this happen.

I hope that's the case, it's too nice of a piece of equipment to go to waste.

I didn't know if during various Lionel repairs, if there was a detailed data base from repair descriptions after bases have been repaired. I spose people probably didn't concern themselves with the actual problem once they got a functioning base back.
