Dave,

You got some excellent advice here, but i'll throw something else into the pot. If that switcher is going to be used ONLY for moving a few cars around at a time then why not try a a CC Lite with a resetable fuse as described a few month's ago by GRJ. As i recall the fuse is put inline between the CC Lite and motor (think that's where) and breaks the circuit when the motor is overloaded; then resets itself a few seconds later when the overload is removed. Check the archives for GRJ's thoughts on this.

Confession is good for the soul. I may have been the poster dave referred to.  Despite the excellent detailed advice my attempt resulted in a short somewhere. I really wanted to try a DIY install in my K-line.  I thought my rework of the heat sink worked but the short cooked the boards. So, I sent the engine to GGG and he rescued it!  I think I would really enjoy working on engines, but I would need a tutor and lots of junk locos to experiment on to learn.  In any event, we have a lot of go to guys on the forum who have the skill sets to rescue amatures like me.  Good luck on your install dave.

BTW, you won't regret upgrading your B6s. It makes a huge difference.

I had TAS add the cruise to my one and only K-line model.  Seems to run well, eventually I had to replace the motor.  A Timko replacement.   Timko is very good at re-setting flywheels, and worm gears on new motors.  IMO.

Mouse over image, and click on the triangle both models have electronics upgrades/speed control.
