As Jim said they are closed.  They closed their retail store in April 2012.  Here’s a link to an earlier thread on that subject:

They continued to sell on-line for awhile but according to the results of this eBay seller search their last eBay feedback on any sale was received in June 2013.

HTH,

Bill

I was sorry to hear that they were not able to keep the place open.  I first met Frank Hare, who owned the shop, back in about 1980.  Bought the C&NW Trainmaster from him then, and still have the locomotive.

Frank was a real gentleman, knowlegeable about trains, a past president of TCA, and became a wonderful friend.  He surrounded himself with some great employees who managed the store well as he became less able to participate.

I do miss the place on my less frequent visits to Pittsburgh these days.

The Iron Horse was the first train store I ever went to, I remember my grandfather taking me into the store frequently, as a small boy I was "wowed" by all the trains they had on the shelves.  The first Lionel engine and freight cars I owned were purchased from that store, along with several other items over the years.  I took my son there a few years back and we still enjoyed our visit.

Its sad to hear that the store has closed
