I'm back with another quick update for my train room. I just got an email this afternoon from Tim at Mianne Benchwork regarding some updates to my benchwork plan. As soon as I pay for the benchwork, Tim will make the parts and ship them. That should be sometime in the next month or so. Also, I have pieces for wood trim that I stained today. I just have to cut and install them. Then my backdrop will be 100% complete. I will be putting a train puzzle on a piece of wood and putting that on the wall of the room, too. My layout project is really going quickly now. It's really exciting!
Something exciting is coming to the new Sunrise Mountain and Western Railroad. I just placed the order for my Mianne Benchwork! The benchwork will arrive by the middle or end of February. Then my dad and I can begin constructing the new layout. Things are going really quick now.
I have another quick update today. I now have the backdrops officially finished! I just spent the whole morning this morning with my dad, and we put up the trim on the sides and top of the backdrop. I bought the trim pieces at a local LV wood store a couple of weeks ago. Last week, I stained the trim pieces. Now the trim is done, and wow! It looks so fantastic. Now I can't wait until next month when my benchwork arrives so I can get that installed.
Congratulations, Dylan! I’m looking forward to seeing the layout construction begin in front of your backdrop!
Here are some photos of my train room. Everything is looking great so far. Benchwork from Mianne will arrive sometime at the end of this month.

Smart to put the backdrop up first, lookin' good!
The backdrop and room look great, Dylan!
It's time for another quick update for my layout room. I just got an exciting email from Tim at Mianne Benchwork (a bit later than I thought, but it's okay). My benchwork is finally shipping out tomorrow! I should have the box sometime early next week! Then, my dad and I will spend some time (when neither of us are working, of course; we do have jobs constructing the benchwork.
Great news, Dylan!
This is what it’ll look like when it comes….
Well packed, easy to carry parcels.
I am looking forward to seeing your build!
Exciting times ahead!

Everything looks great Dylan. Keep up the great progress. Steady as she goes!!
Congratulations, Dylan! Yes, it can take a while. Their benchwork is quite popular.
Dylan, that is one sharp looking room!!! Can't wait to see the benchwork!
The Benchwork has arrived! Woo hoo! I just got four big boxes from UPS this earlier this afternoon. Now I have the benchwork for my new layout. Now I just have to put the pieces together.
I also plan on adding MTH's new DCS WTIU to my new layout in the future, so I ordered the DCS Companion Book: 3rd Edition. I've been reading it to figure out how to implement the DCS system on my layout, along with Lionel's Legacy/Base 3.
Things are going fast for my layout. Stay tuned for more updates. I will probably be starting a new post series documenting the layout build.
I am getting excited for you. Have you considered solar panels as a source for your electrical? Might help with the A/C bill.
Congratulations, Dylan!
My dad and I just finished the benchwork frame. Now we need to get the top of the tables done and a bridge over the opening built. Next, we will remove the trains and track from my current shelf layout and take that stuff into the new train room. Then I can lay some temporary track, add power and my Legacy System and run a few trains.
Here are a couple of photos of the finished benchwork. Thanks to Tim at Mianne Benchwork for the help in designing the train table. Thanks to my dad for helping me build it. It really was pretty easy to build; although, there were a few parts that took us a little while to get put together. The results look fantastic!

Fills up the room quick! Looking good!

That is one great looking bacdrop Dylan.
Are you going to light the layout primarily from the front or back ?
Have a ball sir. God Speed .
This is going to be the final post of this series. Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. I will start a new series documenting the build of my new layout, the Sunrise Mountain and Western Railroad (SM&W RR) version 2.
So, what did I get accomplished this last week?
-Benchwork is done; table top boards are temporarily placed
-I have track layed down temporarily and power hooked up so I can run few trains.
-All 6 Fastrack turnouts I have are installed, programmed, and tested (they all work perfectly in both command and conventional modes)
Things I still need to do:
-Some minor troubleshooting with the power
-Attach the table top permanently
-Build a hinged bridge across the entrance of the layout
-Wire track and screw down; also, add sound-dampening material under roadbed
Here are some photos showing some progress on the layout (more coming on new post):

Wow whee, Dylan! You certainly have made great progress! Looking good!
I have one suggestion for attaching the table top, which you may be aware of. I added a lot more screws than Tim includes for holding the plywood to the joists/girders. Short screws and small metal or plastic brackets do the trick.
